When you buy a HoldSLR you get the wire frame with removable boot and a removable camera body cover. The wire frame is manufactured from compressed steel wire with a vinyl coating to protect your camera. The wire frame folds up for storage yet it is incredibly strong. We have tested it with 20 lbs. of weight hanging unsupported from the shoe - no bend, no break - even your pro body SLR camera and long zoom lenses are secure. The frame will accommodate your big wide angle lenses too - the opening is 3.75" across so that 84MM lens will fit comfortably. At the top of the wire frame is a hook that is bent outward away from your body. You simply hook the HoldSLR to a belt, on your waist, on your back pack or even a fanny pack. We have tested the HoldSLR with woman as petite as size zero and with men as large as XXL to make sure it will fit you and your style of photography.
The lens of your camera hangs down into the collapsible water resistant fabric boot. Gravity secures the camera in the HoldSLR and it is very secure. We have tested the HoldSLR with a variety of styles and sizes of cameras and lenses doing everything from riding a horse to kneeling to the floor to make sure your camera stays put regardless of the type of photography you do. The boot is collapsible to accommodate different length lenses and water resistant. It also contains a stainless steel spring to help the boot collapse and to protect your lens from bumps and scratches. With a firm but soft bottom on the boot you may find you don't even to use a lens cap when on location.
The camera body cover is attached to the wire frame by a snap strap on one side. It is made of the same water resistant material as the boot, simply extends up and over the camera body with an elastic edge to hold it in place. If you are shooting in a wet or dirty environment, the cover provides the same protection for the body of the camera as the boot does for your lens.
